Tom and I have been making our way down the west coast of Finland now for about a month, and now we are just about as far south as we could get, in the old capital city, Turku. The first 27 days of this southward leg were on flat, tree-lined roads, pleasant for a while but then quite boring really (I know we complained about the mountains, there’s just no pleasing some people). The other 3 days (the last 3) were on the archilepago trail through the islands to the west of Turku. The scenery really was fantastic, with pleanty of places to go for a swim and escape mosquitoes. After such a long time on the flat, the small gradients we encountered felt like mountains again.
.
So, we arrived in Turku yesterday, we came here because we had been told that as a very old city, the architecture is fantastic, there are some great museums and it is a must-see for all tourists. So far we have been to the library, Rex’s pizza buffet, a small supermarket with a fantastic selection of cereals and the cinema, we also plan to go to the swimming pool this afternoon.
